Tyler and Jess: A Destination Wedding in Punta Cana
There are some weddings that stick with you forever and Tyler and Jess’s destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic is one I’ll never forget.
Not only was it my first time shooting a destination wedding, but it was also my very first time traveling the country. To say I was excited (and a little nervous) would be an understatement. But from the moment I arrived, I knew this experience was going to be something special.
Tyler and Jess chose Punta Cana because they wanted more than just a wedding day, they wanted an experience. Their vision was to gather all of their closest friends and family in a fun, tropical setting where everyone could relax, celebrate, and truly be present. And they did exactly that.
The ceremony took place right on the beach, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The resort created the most beautiful floral arch that framed Tyler and Jess perfectly as they said their vows. Behind them, the crystal clear blue water stretched endlessly, creating the dreamiest backdrop you could imagine. It was one of those moments where everything just felt surreal: the ocean breeze, the soft sand, and the emotion in the air.
After the ceremony, we explored the resort for portraits, and it was a photographer’s dream. From towering palm trees swaying in the breeze to the soft sandy beach and the stunning Dominican style architecture, every corner offered something unique. Tyler and Jess were completely in their element, soaking in every moment together, and it made capturing their love so effortless.
As the sun set, the energy shifted from romantic to full on celebration. The reception turned into an unforgettable party: tequila flowing, music blasting, and everyone dancing like there was no tomorrow. You could feel how loved Tyler and Jess are by every single person there.
And just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, it ended in the most iconic way—everyone jumped into the pool in their wedding attire. It was spontaneous, chaotic, and SO much fun. Those moments made for some of my favorite images of the entire day: pure joy, laughter, and zero hesitation.
This wedding completely changed something in me. It opened my eyes to how incredible it is to capture love stories in new places, surrounded by different cultures and landscapes. I truly fell in love with traveling through this experience, and I’m so excited to continue adding more destinations to my portfolio.
